If they are direct from the dvla then no we won't.
Quality costs money.

I love that you're so closed to the possibility that there may be good plates from the DVLA - richer pickings for me!

I remind you that AB11 DHB was straight from the DVLA too - let's see how much it goes for in 10 days from now!

O goodness me - you really aint got a clue what you are on about -

Rich pickings are normally taken when a reg is first released - AB11 DHB was purchased December 2010 !!!!!! The day that the 11's were released by DVLA.

The "11's" proved to be the most popular ever sold in any series/style. The first two days of release DVLAs' site could not cope with the amount of hits they had.

The release dates and Auctions are where all the best deals are from (apart from the odd individual who needs the cash !)

The ones you purchase have been available for years and what everyone classes as the "leftovers" that no one else wants yet you still think you are going to get thousands for them

I reckon you were a very very spoilt child who always got their own way and you continue to think you know it all - you are probably the worst listener I have ever come across in my life

Forum members here are amongst the least knowledgable and most dismissive I've come across. When I first mentioned this reg ppl immediately questioned the source and the value of the plate etc. just by way of update, the telegraph reported this story today and are quoting a figure of 400k! I take your point on this likely having been bought in late 2010 etc however, clearly it slipped through the net in as much as the dvla sold it for one thousandth of its rumoured price! Why didn't they withhold for auction?
When P prefix plates were being released (for example) the Internet wasn't what it is today and access to plates wasn't either so some quality ones remained unnoticed for years.

jsut carry on buying the crap you buy - you are advised over and over and over by all and sundrie

people in the business, forum members who quite clearly know far more than you do not just on this forum but every other one you go onto

you compare other registrations that have come from DVLA --------EVERY SINGLE REGISTRATION SOLD COMES FROM DVLA AT SOME POINT !!!

some can sell for massive profits - others will not -

you cannot claim you know anything until you sell -

It would make no difference if the AB11 DHB sold for a million cos you did not buy it

My point is that people were dismissive of the registration when I mentioned it and it could well become the most expensive in history! Doesn't sound like people on here know as much as you seem to suggest!
Furthermore, AB11 DAB was on the market with the DVLA for over a year (and not purchased) - using your reasoning it would be because people did not want it and it is 'crap' - I would not be surprised if this 'crap' goes on to sell for tens if not hundreds of thousands too!
Moreover, if a plate that requires a bolt and has missing letters makes 400k - why should H15 LDN (for instance) make any less?

I can show you HUNDREDS - have you heard of facebook or twitter?!

Also, you always resort to this petty childish line - why not point out the weaknesses in my reasoning instead?

You've already said you only got friends on Facebook from your free voucher. Twitter comes from following people who follow you back.

So where are these forums where people agree?
Hitched - no.
Pistonheads - no.
Maseratiforum - no

Do I need to go on??

this forum and pistonheads think AB11 DHB is "crap" and "chav", yet it is likely to become the most expensive plate in UK history!
People do not have to follow you back on twitter - I have more followers than the people I am following!

I bet you it doesn't.
I'm amazed that you believe everything you read in the papers. I bet you believe Kahn turned down £5m for F1 the day after he bought it for £440k as well don't you?

I would think any dealer who was offered a £
50k number for half price would IF they thought it had the potential to sell. I thought all dealers bought numbers into stock if they saw a good profit in it?

The dealers do (in rare circumstances) buy into stock. However, they will be looking to spend a few hundred pounds on something that they will then market for 20k (as we have seen in the T37 HER example). They know that most people will not accept that amount for such plates and so (to save face) they claim not to buy into stock as a company policy.

to clarify, he said that he could see it selling for that amount. at the end of the day, it is IMPOSSIBLE to know in advance how much a plate will sell for. They are NOT like houses or a TV in that respect. Much more like art ... We have seen countless examples of this at the DVLA auctions and most recently with this number AB11 DHB.

I am sure that if the original buyer came on here over a year ago and said he wanted 300k for it he would have been ripped to pieces. But ultimately that is how much he may well get for it ...
